Why Imperva is a Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion
Discription

This is our [second consecutive year]() as a champion of Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Nowadays, IT security is everyone’s responsibility, and that’s something we take very seriously. [Cybersecurity Awareness Month]() raises awareness of the core principles behind cybersecurity and highlights the key issues that our CISOs and practitioners are dealing with every day. This year is no exception, with a focus on the use of strong passwords, regular patching and software updates, the signs of [phishing](), and the benefits of [multi-factor authentication]().

This year’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month theme – “[See Yourself in Cyber]()” – focuses on the “people” part of cybersecurity, providing information and resources to help educate CISA partners and the public, and aims to help businesses and individuals make more educated security decisions. The hashtag [#BeCyberSmart]() is for everyone, regardless of their level of IT literacy, because cybersecurity isn’t just the function of the IT department anymore, and it takes everyone to make the internet a safer place. This has become even more important in the last two years, with so many employees now working remotely and responsible for their own cybersecurity best practices. This month, we want to help _everyone_ be a little bit more cyber-secure.

At Imperva, we help to protect thousands of organizations – including over half of the top 100 global banks and seven of the ten largest global telecom providers. Network security denial of service attacks, and attempts to manipulate open DNS servers, cause millions of dollars a day in lost business. We stop malicious activity at the farthest reaches, or “edge,” of a company’s network, within seconds of any attack. Digital applications are constantly at risk from bot attacks, and we provide automated protection, backed by our worldwide security operation centers, to block harmful activity. Our data security solutions use advanced analytics to prevent data thieves from getting access to your personal details, and help to keep traffic safe on the information superhighway.

Every day we put a stop to millions of attacks against hospitals, government agencies, eCommerce and online retail platforms, ISPs, utilities, and more. It’s our 9th year as a Leader in the [Gartner® Magic Quadrant![™](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/14.0.0/72×72/2122.png) for web application and API protection](), and earlier this year, our data protection tool [Imperva Data Security Fabric](), won the [2022 SC Media Award in Trust for Best Database Security Solution](). Being a part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month is our chance to put something back into the industry that’s supported us as we’ve become who we are today.

This October, we’ll be taking part in Cybersecurity Awareness Month again by joining in with social media activities, helping to promote cybersecurity best practices, and creating a series of blog posts designed to raise awareness around this year’s challenges – keep an eye on our [blog](), [Twitter]() (and the hashtag [#BeCyberSmart]()), [LinkedIn](), and [Facebook]() pages to find out more.

Cybersecurity is a company-wide responsibility and starts with “people.” Please help spread the message this month, and let’s make the internet a safer place for everybody.
