I live in Mountain View, CA with my wife and two kids.

I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2005 with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science. My thesis was titled “A Scalable Approach to High-Performance Inference on Large Graphs”. It was about using parallelism to speed up graph algorithms (like PageRank). I worked for several years as a research scientist at Yahoo! Research, where I wrote papers and implemented prototypes of new search technologies. Then I moved over to Microsoft Research Silicon Valley, where I continued working on distributed systems and data mining problems for another few years before joining Google in 2011
