It’s not that it wasn’t good, but I had expected more from the author of The Martian.

I read The Martian last year and loved it so much that I immediately bought all of Andy Weir’s other books (The Expanse series). This is the first one I’ve read since then, and while it was entertaining enough to keep me reading, there were some things about it that bugged me.

First off: the pacing felt really weird. There are three main characters in this story – two men who are astronauts on Mars and one woman who is an astronaut training for a future mission to Mars – but they don’t meet up until almost halfway through the book
