The author is a journalist and he writes like one: it’s very easy to read and there are some interesting facts in here. The downside is that this isn’t really a story; it’s just an overview of all major events from prehistory until today. There are no characters, no plot – just facts after facts after facts (and some jokes). It was fun to read but I wouldn’t recommend it as your first book on history
