I started my first company in 2012 when I was 19. It was an online marketplace that allowed people to buy and sell their used books with each other. The idea came from the fact that at the time there were no good ways to do this; you either had to go through Amazon or eBay (which would take a big cut of your profits), or you had to sell them yourself on Craigslist (where it could be difficult getting rid of all your inventory). My co-founder and I built up our site over the course of two years before we finally shut down due to lack of funding in 2014
