I think the best way to understand this is that we’re seeing a lot of people who are really excited about Rust, and want to use it for things they haven’t seen it used for before.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about why I like Rust so much, and what makes me feel confident in saying that it’s going to be big. There are lots of reasons: its performance characteristics; its safety guarantees; the fact that you can write high-level code without sacrificing low-level control over memory layout or calling conventions; but one thing I keep coming back to is how well suited Rust feels for writing libraries.
