I think it is very well done and will improve user engagement, especially on mobile devices.

I have been using Google+ since its inception in 2011. It has always had some issues with usability but overall I like it more than Facebook or Twitter because there are no ads and you can actually engage in meaningful conversations without having to wade through all the noise that comes from people who don’t know how to use social media properly (i.e., trolls)
