I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and went to college at Northwestern University where I studied computer science. After graduating, I worked for a year as an intern on the Google Maps team before moving out west to work on Gmail full time. Since then, my focus has been on building new features that make email more useful and accessible across all devices—from mobile phones to large screens like TVs or tablets.

In 2013, after spending two years working remotely from home in Chicago (and one year living with my parents), I decided it was time for a change of scenery so moved back into an apartment near downtown San Francisco
