The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted 3-2 on Thursday to adopt new net neutrality regulations that will prevent Internet service providers from blocking or discriminating against lawful content and applications online. The FCC’s new rules also include provisions for regulating wireless networks under Title II of the Telecommunications Act, which is designed to ensure that all users have access to an open Internet.
The FCC’s vote was met with cheers by consumer advocates and tech companies who had been pushing for stronger protections against ISPs like Comcast, Verizon and AT&T
