I’m a first-time renter in the Bay Area, and I’ve been living in an apartment complex for about two months now. The place is nice enough — it’s clean, well maintained, and has a pool (which is really important to me). It’s also pretty close to work and school. However, there are some problems with the place that have left me feeling like maybe I got ripped off:

The rent is $1120/month ($1140 after utilities), which seems high considering what you get out of it
