Security Bulletin: IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty is vulnerable to denial of service due to GraphQL Java (CVE-2022-37734)

## Summary

There is a vulnerability in the GraphQL Java library used by IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty with the mpGraphQL-1.0 or mpGraphQL-2.0 feature enabled. This has been addressed.

## Vulnerability Details

** DESCRIPTION: **GraphQL Java is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by an uncontrolled resource consumption flaw. By sending a specially-crafted request using Directive overloading, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition.

## Remediation/Fixes

IBM strongly recommends addressing the vulnerability now by applying a currently available interim fix or fix pack that contains the APAR PH49719. **For IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty 17.0.0.3 – 22.0.0.11 using the mpGraphQL-1.0 or mpGraphQL-2.0 feature(s): **
· Upgrade to minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and then apply Interim Fix [PH49719]( “PH49719” )

· Apply Liberty Fix Pack 22.0.0.12 or later (targeted availability 4Q2022).
