I have a bit of an obsession with the “marshmallow test” and wanted to do my own experiment.

The marshmallow test is a famous experiment that was done in 1972 by Walter Mischel, then at Stanford University. The basic idea is that you give kids one marshmallow (or other treat) and tell them they can eat it now, but if they wait for 15 minutes without eating it, they’ll get two treats instead. You follow up with these kids years later and find that those who were able to delay gratification tended to be more successful in life than those who couldn’t resist temptation
