Im not sure what the best way to handle this is, but I think it would be nice if we could have a more explicit this function takes an optional argument that defaults to some value.

If you dont provide it, use this default value instead. syntax in Rust.
I know there are other languages with similar features (e.g., Python), so maybe something like this has already been discussed
