I’m not going to tell you how to live your life.

I’m just going to ask that if you are a man who wants to be an ally, please consider the following:

1) Don’t make assumptions about what women want or need from men in order for them to feel safe and comfortable. We don’t know what we want or need because it has never been offered. It is not our job as allies (or anyone else) to decide this for us. If we do not know what it feels like when someone respects us, then how can we expect others to respect us
